The Ariana Cheuck Foundation (ACF) was founded in 2024 by Dr. Lanna Cheuck, as a vehicle for change for children who struggle to have music in their life. A decade before this, Dr. Lanna Cheuck had her first child, Ariana Cheuck, who was born 10 weeks premature and had degenerative eye issues at birth. After many surgical interventions, Ariana was able to maintain a level of vision despite her detached retinas.
Fast forward a decade later, Ariana is now thriving despite her disabilities. She is an amazingly proficient piano and ukulele player, and an avid singer as well. She also has a passion to become a music teacher to those interested in learning, including her friends.
Through OPWDD and Medicaid, Ariana is able to access funding for her musical interests. The reimbursements through OPWDD’s Self Direction allows for a flywheel effect for Ariana; where the funding for musical classes continues to fuel her passion to be a musician and spread her music across the world.
In 2024, Ariana performed at multiple venues for the first time. Ariana would like to continue to perform in different arenas to spread the message of hope for others who are looking to have music impact their life in a meaningful way.
January’s INCLUSION CONCERT will bring together young adults and high school students from public, private, and special needs schools for a joint concert. We aim to help these students form new connections with their peers from different backgrounds across the city through the common language of music. Ariana will be one of the distinguished performers at this event.
Our vision to provide music to children is a three step process; identify children in need through crowdsourcing and collaborative charitable actions, acquire musical instruments in any way possible, and provide virtual classes free of charge to every child.
